I recently had the opportunity to try some of Burt's Bees products, including their gentle foaming cleanser from their skincare line. I have to admit, my skin isn't used to the pampering it deserves. Usually, I forget to moisturize and lather up that lotion. I was super excited to try out some of their products over the past few weeks (& also to find out they have a NEW plant-based protein powder line). Drawn by their beautiful packaging design, I would always see Burt's in the aisles of Walgreens, ULTA, etc. when I would be picking out my favorite Burt's Bees lip balm and was always curious about some of the other products.
If you know me well, you know I like my products as natural as possible. I love that their products are free of parabens, phthalates, petrolatum and SLS. Do you even know what those mean? Trust me, you don't want to...
A few years ago, I not only started truly caring about what went into my body, but also what I put onto my body. The products I tried (cleanser, lotion, night cream and eye cream) left me skin feeling refreshed. The cleanser left my face feeling naturally clean and it took off all of the dirt, oil and makeup (& sweat from SoulCycle!). Happy to add these products into my skincare routine and I'm pretty sure Bey would too... ;)
PS: LOVE that they have a Face Care Guide on their website. Check it out here! :)

For the busy gal constantly on-the-go, a well-packed gym bag can help you go from workout to work, looking and feeling fab along the way. Enhance that post-workout glow and read about how I like to go about my day with the help of thesE products!
HER Gym Bag Essentials:
cute outfit & training kicks - I love to say "You look good, you feel good, you have a great workout." Anyone else agree? I'm pretty obsessed with Nike's Rose Gold Training/Gym Collection. I also want to stress the importance of proper training shoes vs. running shoes. If you're training, be sure to look for a shoe made for cross-training workoutS and lateral movements. If you're not sure how to find the best shoe for the type of workouts you like to do, ask questions at your nearest fitness shoe retailer - they should be able to help!
durable gym bag - Win-win if your bag is large enough to fit everything you need to get a workout in anytime and anywhere and cute enough to compliment any outfit! :)
headphones - A rockin' playlist can make or break your workout. Ever wonder why people are obsessed with soulcycle? It's a dance party and the music is always on point. I recently came across these beats wireless headphones and they're definitely on my x-mas wish-list....plus, they come in rose gold to match all that Nike gear that's also on my list...
water bottle – The easiest thing you can do for your health and beauty is to make sure you stay properly hydrated. Always pack a water bottle and if you have to Ask iif you're drinking enough water, you're probably not. Drink up! I love SWELL Water bottles for my water and blender bottles to mix my protein powders into. Who says a water bottle can't be a complement to your wardrobe? Do you girl...
Healthy snacks – It’s important to eat within an hour of exercising to keep your body in fat-burning, muscle-building mode. No one likes you when you're #hangry. healthy protein bars and powders (keep them clean!) can keep you satiated until you have time to make a nutritious whole food meal. I love Gomacro bars, Rise Bars and also like to carry sample packs of Plant-based VEGA protein that i can mix with water incase I run out of bars or know I'll be going for a few hours without a meal. Plan ahead yo.
facial water – a rose water spritzer is great to follow up with after washing your face. These help give your skin a nice healthy (non-sweaty) glow. Love this Mario Badescu facial spray.
fitness-friendly makeup- I'm not for wearing makeup when I workout, but sometimes a little powder to even-up your skin-tone and give some coverage is needed. Sweat cosmetics allows skin to breathe and has added benefits that actually work to make skin healthier as it’s worn. This stuff has SPF in it too....Win-win.
dry shampoo- I'm not saying it's the end of hair-washing days, but dry shampoo is a convenient option if you're rushed in the morning, have somewhere to be after the gym, or have naturally oily hair. It can make flat, greasy, or even sweaty hair look presentable in a flash.
deodorant - 'Nuff Said. Go for a brand made with health ingredients like these from JASON.
toothbrush & paste - Anyone else's teeth clench up during an intense cycling or cardio class? Brushing my teeth always makes me feel refreshed before leaving the gym. Plus, who doesn't like smiling with strength and feeling confident post-workout? I really like Colgate's Enamel Health line. Strengthening and repairing your enamel from everyday wear and tear needs to be part of your daily personal healthy lifestyle routine!*
*My views alone., however I was given colgate toothpaste and tooth brush to review as a sponsored post.
Did you know that most women are in the wrong size sports bra?
If you follow me on Insta, you've probably noticed a bunch of bras in my recent posts. They deserve to be talked about. You deserve to find a sports bra you love that loves you back. If you're not comfortable in your fitness attire or always have to re-adjust your straps or band mid-workout, you can be sacrificing yourself from having a great workout. I don't know about you, but I wouldn't want to put a toll on my fitness. Let's minimize distractions and take care of our girls. Here are some HERfitness quick tips when looking for your perfect sports bra:
Focus on fit.
Many sports bras go by band and cup size - as they should for a precise fit! Visit your local sports apparel store and ask if they do bra fittings (pssst: Nike stores offer 1:1 bra fittings you could book through the new Nike+ app. Fun fact: I used to work at the Nike Chicago store and was a trained Bra Fit Specialist!). The experts can guide you on the type of material and style you should choose from. Getting the right size fit might take an extra step in the moment, but it can definitely save you money in the long run. Plus, your body is always changing so it's good to adjust!
Test it out.
When you try your sports bras on, do some bodyweight exercises that you regularly would do in your fitness classes or on your own. Go ahead, get into some lunges and jumping jacks in that fitting room! Ensure that your sports bra reduces breast motion not only vertically, but also from side to side. We don't need spillage or loose bands girls!
Compression vs. encapsulation. There are two types of designs for bras. Compression sports bras are most suitable for ladies with smaller chest because you need less support. These types of bras are also best for low impact activities. Encapsulation designs have molded cups - which are great for high-intensity workouts and ladies with larger chests. Try different types of styles and see which you like best!
Make it pretty.
Function & comfort first, but sports bras don't have to be boring. Many retailers are coming out with cuter designs that also give you the support you need. Browse around before making a final decision. Find your favorite colors. Get the one with the crazy straps that you can wear under a fitness crop top or loose tank. Mesh? Yes! Customize as you see fit. I always remind myself: if you look good, you feel good, you have a great workout. Heck, sports bra shopping is almost like shoe shopping...
Take care, girl.
Wash your sports bras in cold water with mild detergent. Avoid fabric softener and bleach. Use a wash bag if you have one. Dry them flat or hang dry them. For the dryer, use the cold tumble cycle only: Heat breaks down spandex. Replace the bra if the ends of the spandex fibers start showing or the fabric no longer snaps back into shape. Buy a new one annually (or more if you wear frequently!).
HERfitness fave: My favorite sports bra is the Nike Pro Indy Cool - it's a light support style that's great for low-impact workouts!
